Just checking - should I be using ....SetupRelease-v10079DR

Post by RayM2 »

Greetings...

I just finished another campaign using game version 1.8.11.28.4-Mar 04 2023 as shown on the game style selection panel. I spent the time doing the complete Allies Set-up spreadsheet and the first turn.

Question: I recently discovered the file: WarinthePacificAdmiralsEdition-SetupRelease-v10079DR. Looking at several posts on this search the post timestamps appears before 11.28.4.

Do I need to do anything with this file or just play on? I really want to avoid the clickfest in setting things up if possible. Please advise.

Another question: If I do have to update can I bring in my saves into the new game version? Or do I have to start over with redoing the Allies set-up?

Thanks,

Once you install WiTP:AE, there is always a WhatsNew pdf file in the game's main folder. The file has the game's changelog history.

Version V10079DR is, as I understand, the unpatched vanilla game with all its bugs.

At the momement there is only one setup file, 79DR. Everything else is a patch to that file.

There is only one official patch 26a I think.
There is one stable beta that most uses as an official patch as it is currently the best, 26b.
There's 27 best left alone it poor imo
Then there's the current 28 beta still being worked on

I think all saves will work with any patch but not necessarily overcome any data differences.

All the patches alter the exe and other game files but not necessarily the data files e.g. scenarios or maps. Betas tend to go in a sub folder called beta and run fron there.

There is a major data base patch that I think is official and manay, many scenario mods.
