End of the Reich? vIV

Post by sPzAbt653 »

This scenario was designed for the user to play the role of Chief of the OKW (Alfred Jodl, historically), who will -- in theory -- succeed in pursuading Hitler to pursue alternative strategies to regain the strategic initiative.

This is an update to a prior modification of an older scenario. See the Scenario Text Document for details.

That's good news! I will definitely try it once I find the time, but thanks in advance for the effort you put into it. I've got a question, though. Is the PO capable of gathering strength with an operational pause and then conducting grand offensives—such as the Vistula-Oder offensive—in which the player will have a hard time defending the entire front? Or will it just do some limited, uncoordinated attacks non-stop?

I think that is the general idea. I like working the PO and in the past have put efforts into other scenarios to create operational pauses and offensives, but not in this scenario. Maybe in the future I can have a go at it.

To do such a grand scenario justice you’d probably need a lot more than the 5 available objective tracks. Since Bobby is still tinkering with his mod, maybe you can ask him to add a dozen, or more, objective tracks.

Also, excellent scenario. Admire the dedication you have for the game. One comment on the design, not counting HQs, combat units range from division down to companies. Suggest you consider getting rid of the few companies (ant units) and make the battalions indivisible.

Thanks, but keep in mind it's not my scenario, we were only making some adjustments to fix the turn frame change [and that did branch out to a few playability modifications along the way]. Bill and I, and including yourself and I'm sure a few others, would like to see more changes. We have discussed this and probably it would be better to create a new scenario. I don't want to completely lose what the original designer created.
