Valencia Puerto

War in Spain 1936-39 is the first in a new wargame series, using a new Land-Sea-Air engine inspired by War in the Pacific - Admiral’s Edition. Gameplay and realism are improved by TRUE AI and a detailed Logistics systems. A hyper detailed OOB reaches down to battalion and company level. A beautiful, hand drawn, 5 nautical mile per hex map massively increases player immersion.

Valencia Puerto

Post by Q-Ball »

Is Valencia Puerto connected to the railnet?

I don't think it is, so anything dropped in the port is going to sit there.......like Oil or Fuel

I believe it should be connected to the railnet

Also, El Grao de Castellon.....there is a large supply of fuel there, it has to be moved via ship to be useful, even though there is a nearby rail line

Am I off base?

Valencia has a train depot while Valencia Puerto does not. RR logistical units run from train depot to train depot. A wheeled logistical unit in Valencia Puerto will help to move oil and fuel around. But Barcelona itself is a major port with a train depot and a RR logistical unit that has 120 devices so it might be better to drop the fuel and oil there. If any place needs oil to refine and does not have a train dep, a logistical wheeled unit located there or at the closest train depot should haul the oil to the refinery. As far as I know, oil and fuel pipelines are not in the game.

Thanks....generally, there is enough FUEL in Spain, but not enough in places that I need it. Barcelona has 70K fuel, but alot of points are bone dry, including Madrid, which has Zero. The at-start Rail Units don't seem to be enough to cover Spain if you are taking Nationalist Territory; I guess I have to move some around.

I am about a year in, and the Nationalist are down to Galicia and the Seville/Cadiz area.......but the biggest issue is FUEL

Well then, check your inventory of RR devices in your stockpile. If you haven't captured any, you can make some more RR logistical units using the stockpiles. Then you can substitute the truck devices for wagons and carts. Yes, they don't carry as much but they don't use fuel. If you have enough, you can even "dump" wagons and carts to make more logistical units. Of course, any captured wagons and carts are also good for logistical units.

You may also want to request more fuel at needed points, then reduce the demand there so it will be dispersed within that area.

As far as my game goes, it is November 1936 and I am thinking about invading North Afrika . . .

Back to Valencia Puerto, I would advocate for a Map Change, that includes making a RAIL connection in this port.

Valencia was a major port in 1936. I bet anything there were rails right up to the docks in Valencia Port

In-game, it's also important because without that rail connection, Valencia Puerto becomes much less useful as a major port.....probably less useful than IRL

So: Make a rail connection to Valencia Puerto

I can rail units to and/or from the port. The supplies, fuel, resources, and oil need to be move to a train depot for the RR logistical units to take those things elsewhere.

Yep, since 1852.

On March 21, 1852, the third railway on the Iberian Peninsula was inaugurated, only preceded by those from Barcelona to Mataró (1848) and from Madrid to Aranjuez (1851), which connected Valencia with its port, El Grao.
