Marsh Combat

Post by LoneRunner »

Marsh has a defense bonus from soft, hard, light tank, and tank attacks . And a negative bonus from artillery and air attacks. Marsh also appears to affect combat if the attacking unit is attacking out of a marsh hex. So a tank attacking out of a marsh hex into another marsh hex appears to incur a double penalty.

I didn't notice a similar penalty for attacking out of a forest, hill, or mountain hexes.

Am I correct? Does attacking out of marsh hex incur a combat penalty?

I believe so. Taking up a defensive position where the attacker has to come via a Marsh seems to be quite effective.

Thanks Pete.

Interesting that attacks are impacted both in and out of a marsh hex. Why not forest, or hills, or mountains? Would be great to know the logic behind that decision.

I always thought it would be a "cool" feature if the penalties of marshes were mitigated somewhat during turns when weather conditions were frozen. Bogs and ponds being less of an impediment when completely iced over.
