Theatre box units and leader switches

Post by tm1 »

Hi
Just after a answer on a couple of answers I am looking about doing some alternative unit switching in theatre boxes.

I like to stick to history when it comes to playing campaigns, when replacing leaders I will use commanders that are in the leader list but not from other theatre boxes, however there has been one or two exceptions where these leaders were stationed eventually in the West but were currently sitting in what would be described as the Führerreserve, this didn't seem to cause any issues.

So this gave me an idea for a bit of alternative fun meaning in a future campaign I thought I might use the open " theatre box " option actually switch out The Africa Korps ( including Rommel ) for say the 56th Pz Korps.

Is it possible, has anyone done this, and will it work because I know in May / June 1943 the theatre box closes and lots of units disband, will the game blow a fuse and short circuit because of switching out this unit and or also would DAK still disband in 1943 even if its in Russia and I end up losing two Panzer Korps.

And for $ 64.00 question for some who might be thinking why ? well I am big fan of the North African campaign and I like the Africa Korps and the unit gets to fight on in a Ahistorical campaign and its also a bit of fun.

Of course I wont do it if it messes up things but I'm just asking is it viable, will it work.

regards

The Africa TB destruction is done by an event which kills certain percentages of units/air. So this is generally random what gets destroyed.
If HQs or units have a set disband date then they will just disband, no matter where they are, afaik. You would have to check how the individual disbands are set in the Editor.
