How many are playing PBEM right now?

War in Spain 1936-39 is the first in a new wargame series, using a new Land-Sea-Air engine inspired by War in the Pacific - Admiral’s Edition. Gameplay and realism are improved by TRUE AI and a detailed Logistics systems. A hyper detailed OOB reaches down to battalion and company level. A beautiful, hand drawn, 5 nautical mile per hex map massively increases player immersion.

How many are playing PBEM right now?

Post by Q-Ball »

I'm curious how many players are playing a PBEM right now. I am personally only aware of 2: Myself and my opponent!

Is there anyone else playing PBEM? If so, curious how it's going......

AI is fine for awhile, but IMO it does not provide an adequate long-term opponent

A bit off-topic, if you don't mind. Some people can't really invest into PBEM, but that's when house rules come into play. For example, for my future NAT game I'm going to ignore all off-map locations and all foreign troops. For my current REP one, I'm considering withdrawing all Soviet forces back to the Motherland. The next level of pain might be to give up one's airforce :)

You can disband the units but then the devices go into your stockpiles. If you play where you can build your own units, you can use those devices to make new units. In fact, a lot of those units had Spanish personnel replace the foreign personnel. But keep your International brigades . . .

Why would you want to bring back the Soviet air force?
(or disband it?)

I don't understand that...

They are very historically designed.
and the fighter air force is the only one that was effective throughout 1936...

I think he's trying to handicap himself as Republic to give the Nationalist AI a chance.....but I still don't think that's enough personally. The AI has to stop allowing itself to get surrounded. A better houserule for the AI is to never try to surround units; always give them an escape.

Back to the original question: Anyone else here playing PBEM?

Disband the Soviet air units, make new Spanish air units with the Spanish owned Soviet aircraft, and then put in Spanish pilots.

Ah...
so I don't really understand this.
I know you.
But maybe you didn't notice that you are on a forum for historical strategy games,

You should look elsewhere for a forum for building strategies...

Otherwise I have no idea how you would create Spanish fighter units.
If you disbanded the Russian ones...
Would you really let the Republicans with a quality of about 10 to 20 be shot by the nationalist CR?

Back to original question....it looks like 1 more PBEM game is up on an AAR, which is good, so there are at least 4 of us....

Anyone else playing PBEM right now?
