TF Refuel

Post by Chris21wen »

v1128.4

Something I've known but not realised, if you follow that.

The TF set 'Do not refuel' not only prevent the TF from refueling it prevents it from rearming as well. Perhaps it should say 'Do not Repl' or some such thing.
There is a further complication. The instruction to auto-disband affects how this behaves. If it's set to disband and 'Do not refuel' it will re-arm but not refuel.

If you don't beleive it, try it. Here's a pick of a DD that had those two settings now anchored in Pescadores.

Yeah, I've seen that behavior often, depending on the TF. But since I run missions a certain way I usually get the refueling done....GP

If you have a patrol waypoint at a port with a refueling in the orders for that port, it will refuel and rearm as needed . . .

Yep and for IJ its a must ... most of their SC's have 1000 or less range, they need to refuel every week or they run out. Not to mention they start with only 8 DC's, so they can burn through those in one encounter.

Pretty much same with USN 1500 endurance SCs.

I've moved 1500 SC's to OZ with some long range Cargo ships and never had to set a way point to a base for refueling....GP

Done the same. About only way to get them out of Panama to either WC or Oz.

Bur basically, one has to have one of the patrol zone waypoint to be port with full refuel, to use them continuously as coastal ASW.

Or using the waypoint to refuel carrier TFs hanging back from a port that the enemy might attack in order to keep all of the ships fueled and the sorties refilled . . .
