Cross loading

Post by Chris21wen »

I understand how it works and why etc.

What I don't understand is why in section 6.3.2.5 there are ships in the list that cannot load troops E.g. Carriers, BB and others. This offset table gives troop in cargo space offset value as 1000. This means for a BB, 1 troop would occupy 1000 cargo but the BB has no troop nor cargo space to load anything. Some entries are as high as 9999.

Is it possible that when the game was programmed initially they did have BB carrying troops but before it was released decided against it but did not take it out of the documentation.

I believe it's something like that.

An entry with these high values could/should be removed from this table.

Maybe the ships could pick up survivors from sunk ships . . .

It may also be that the devs did not want capital ships carrying troops, but the database required an entry value. The devs just made an arbitrary number (1000) that was too large to allow troops.

I going with something like that but it doesn'y need to be in the manual in section about loading stuff. Just leave it out.

Cruisers are capital ships. Actually, the Yamato and the Mushashi did carry troops and equipment during the war but they would not be able to off load them fast enough for a fast trasport TF considering how much they carried.
