Problem installing game

Trying to add SCWW1 to a second computer at a different location. I download the file and install. (everything goes fine) Click on the shortcut to play, the main menu loads fine. I click on PLAY and get an error message about invalid steam code. I try to re-install the game, and get a message that a precious version already exists, and that I need to uninstall first. I click on the uninstall button and nothing happens. Because nothing happened I manually delete everything I can find on the computer. When I go to reinstall I get the same message, a previous version already exists on the computer. As a side note, I also downloaded the latest update, and when I try to install it, I get a message "no main game found" I must install the game before I can install the update.
