Buggy Logistics Freight Math in Airfield construction tests

Post by Wiedrock »

Note, the Scenario is heavily edited to pretty much not contain any other units than the HQ chain and the construction SU.

What I have found is a bug on the Logistics math.
So.
T8 the Depot ends with 27365tons. It had just finished the Airfield lvl 2 and order is given to build lvl 3 on this turn.
T9 the Depot starts with 27365tons (thats the number in the brackets).
The Depot gets delivered 5119tons.
So it would have without anything sent out, 32484tons.
It ends up with 30457-32484=2027tons less. But it only lists 918 as being sent out.
So whatever the matter, the math ain't mathing.

I'll also show below the construction from 1→2 (you may notice it takes like - forever...as a sidenote) and costs bazillions more, but you also can see the logistics accountant error occur (e.g. T5, T6).

As said it is heavily edited but I don't see how this would harm the math - it seems related to the Airbase construction which I was looking into (see the following info below the end of the Bug Report).

END OF BUG REPORT.
=============================================================================

I was originally trying to figure out...
  1. How much freight it costs to build/upgrade Airbases.
  2. How much time ittakes to build/upgrade Airbases.
  3. How the "size" of a construction unit is impacting the construction speed (I buffed a battalion in this second round of tests (see attachement)).
What I can say .....Nothing makes any sense. ....But that's just as a side note... :D

In a previous run with the ragularly sized construction SU I found these numbers:
NOTE: I did only look at the "Sent Out" figures in these test!!!
0→1: 250tons(village)-284tons(field)
1→2: 1000tons
2→3: 2250tons
...but I also used some adjacent/other hexes nearby, so not that exact same one.

So, before I have seen lvl 2→3 take at least 2250tons but with the regular sized Construction Battalion, taking several turns. While the buffed SU took just 1 turn as in the bug report shown (which seems reasonable).

Meanwhile, the same massively buffed Battalion trying to build from lvl 1 to 2, seemingly was completely incapable of doing so as you can see in the following. And btw. by taking that many turns it was consuming ~2250tons (again, only looking for the "Sent Out" figures!!!), a number as mentioned before I had found to be the case for lvl 2→3. WEIRD!

Background for the math:
The HQ consumes ~32tons. It is in Horse range so this gets to 32x1.5=48.
The SU (buffed) consumes ~42-50. Depending if at the Airfield or at the HQ due to horse range this number varies obviously, that's why in T3 above we have 91 and T4 we have 116, since T4 the horses needed to be fed ~45x1.5+32x1.5=115.5tons.

Specifying, if anyone has any infos.

Conditions are:
#Clear Terrain and Clear Weather. The easiest, the basis.
#Sufficient Freight in nearby Depots.
#Road network of the hex does not matter. Right?
  1. What is the freight cost of each Airbase level (1<2<3(?))?
  2. What 'Construction Value' of a SU builds what percentage of each level?
    1. Is a Regiment with 100 Construction Value performing the same as 3xBattalion (exact same Elements/EXP and so on)?
    2. Is there a "size matters" (e.g. Brigade > Regiment > Battalion) involved besides this?
  3. Are there any Leader Rolls involved?
    1. If yes, which Leader rolls?
    2. If yes, which rating is rolled?

So this is vanilla HQs and vanilla SU.

One issue I again encountered is that some Supplies seem to disappear, but this time it was just one Logistics Phase (T5) which lost 193tons.
Tests previously done without horse deliveries seem to be completely screwed by "Trucks being converted from freight" and "Truck fuel consumption" and the like. Whichever it is, the 3Hex range with the +50% freight used for fodder is likely the cheapest in any event.

Edit: 193tons disappearing is rather exact 1/5th of the predicted (see below) 964tons. 193x5=965tons.....maybe gives some ideas/hints on what it may be. :?

The Build costs are as found. Not re-tested the "non village hex".

What came up is that the cost of the Airfield seems to be reduced by the "base Supply" number of the village, times the turns of consturction.
This town has a base supply of 18, so we get with some rounding:
250→234 vs 232 predicted (1turn (so -18*1))
1000→963 vs 964 predicted (2turns (so -18*2))
2250→2193 vs 2196 predicted (3turns (so -18*3))

Or it is juts a coincidence...
I did not find a good test setup to test a city with (massively) higher "base Supply" yet.
