Get Pilots Getting the Wrong Type

Post by Dereck »

I was trying to replace low skilled patrol pilots with skilled ones from my training squadrons. I released 4 pilots and retired them and then used the Get 4 pilots to get 4 pilots. However, instead of choosing 4 from the patrol reserve it appears it chosed 4 from the fighter reserve. For my USN pilot reserves I have 396 total: 89 fighter, 201 bomber and 106 patrol. Is there something I can do so the Get Pilots will get the right type?

Your best bet is not to use the Get New Pilot button. Use the Request Veteran button instead. Then filter the resulting pilot list to show just the Patrol pool or sort the whole list by best Nav Search skills (NavS) and pick from what's available. It's much more dependable than the random Get New Pilot method where even if you have it set to pick pilots from Reserve you can still get wrong-footed on the appropriate aerial skills.

The criteria used by 'Get new pilots' is experience, not skill. You need to manually selected them as Bo said.
