I'm playing a full WWII campaign as the Japanese. As part of my core force I took a few platoons of paras, and twosquads of transport aircraft. I noticed that since I had the transports in my core force I was never given a chance to buy any strike aircraft, which bugged me a bit. Also, like hot dogs and hot dog buns, there are more paras in a platoon than will fit on a single squad of transports (5 squads of paras and 4 transports). On one turn I wanted to be able thave all 10 para squads jump behind the British lines, so I bought an extra squad of transports, then changed my mind (I couldn't do anything with the other two transports) so I put them back. Lo' and behold, I suddenly had one air unit availible, and "strike aircraft" popped up on the menu! I did it again, buying two squads of transports and putting both back. Now I had 3 air units to purchase! A little later, in the next scenario, I deceided to see just how far it would let me go, so I bought all the transport aircraft I could buy...58 squads, put 'em all back and got 58 air units to purchase!
I only bought 30 squads of Zero's, but boy was it fun when I used them all on my opening bombardment! The Limey's never stood a chance!
Anyway, I went back to "normal" purchasing choices and re-did the scenario, but this is an interesting flaw to play with.
