Crash out to desktop. Please help!

When trying to run the game it plays the opening logos for SSG and Matrixgames and then crashes out to the desktop with this eror mesage.

DDHelp caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> at 0000:baab99f4.

I have all the requirments as stated on the box
Microsoft Windows 98 4.10.1998
AMD 500
256mb RAM
Radeon 9000 pro 128mb
Have all latest drivers for everything except DX9b.
Have a lot of the latest games that are moore demanding than this game and why it wont run I have no idea going to try to load DX9b have DX8.1 which on the box says all i need if this dont work then a patch is needed to fix this BS.
To release this game in this condition should be a crime , was looking foward to a new game on my tight buget instead it has brought me High Blood Presure , chest pains , geting kicked out of a libarey for using foual languge under my breath but the old wrinkley libariaen somehow heard me and threw me out and I fliped out on her while I was leaving, all because this game wont run and have to go to libary to be able to use the internet as have no conection on my Sailboat as im using it as a liveaborad but working on it for now have to use liabries wich realy SUCKS.
So if anyone can help Please Help.

Got about a week before I head back to COMPUSA and demand a refund cause its BS that all games run fine except this one and ya i got UV which runs fine took 9 hours to load but game works and Korsun had some trouble loading as well but went straght to the load threw the run then browsed to it and it loaded fine ,had to get rid of the setup page and that music was playng chopey.

Please Help Someone.

This is (very possibly) due to either a corrupt installation of DirectX or your Video Card drivers. This can happen if one jumps back to older version or doesn´t delete / uninstall older versions of drivers before upgrading to the newer ones.

It can also be incompatibility between drivers and DirectX.

Please try the following.

1. Update to latest DirectX (not necessarily needed for Korsun Pocket but it might fix problems with your installation of DirectX)

if that doesn´t help

2. Update to latest drivers for your Radeon card but make sure to uninstall the old drivers properly first. This is really important.

if that still doesn´t help

3. Update to latest drivers for your sound card (since you state choppy sound occurs too)

if even that still doesn´t help

4. Run DirectX Dialog, perform all test and attach the Dialog TXT file to a reply here, so I can check your system specs properly.

Have all my latest drivers and allways unload the old ones before installing the new ones and i loaded up dx9b and its still doing the same thing.
One thing i tried was to disable my sound card to see if it will load then but still crashes out to desk top but without a eror meassage.
Will try to get that report for ya but I think its the game and not me.
Have a lot of games on my hard drive some of the latest games that are on the shelves and they all work just fine and games from the past work fine,the only games that ever gave me trouble was Superpower ,patch fixed things , had something to do with Superpower not likeing AMD chips and only other games that have given me problems was games from Matrixgames.UV loded very slow but it works.So i think its not me but something wrong with the game.Thank God and the Devile that at least all other games out there work just fine .

I can't help out in your dispute with the librarian, but perhaps I can with the DDhelp error.

Fist of let me say I am a sys admin, who beta tested this game and I have done quite a lot of DirectX troubleshooting over the years. I can assure this game should run fine on your PC, and on win98. The problem you are encountering is to do with windows not the game. It is specifically to do with DirectX, and therefore possibly to do with graphic card / sound drivers.

Try the following

Download the current version of DirectX.
Right-click the desktop, and then click Properties.
Click the Settings tab, and then click Change Display Type or Advanced Properties. Note the name of your display driver.
Click Change in the Adapter Type section, and then click Show All Devices.
In the Manufacturers box, click Standard Display Types.
In the Models box, click Standard Display Adapter (VGA), click OK, and then click Close.
Click OK twice.
Click Yes if you are prompted to restart your computer.
Reinstall DirectX.

If this fails go and download directx eradicator from

When you install a new version of directx if often fails to remove some of the old directx files. Directx eradicator wil completely remove directx allowing you to reinstall the latest version cleanly.

As Marc pointed out it as well to check you have the latest drivers for your sound / graphics cards. But I really would be surprised if this isn't a directx problem.

ps some searches on google abut directx will show you a whole world of potential directx troubles. When faced with a choice of a 1) a Microsoft error or 2) a SSG / Matrix error always start with choice number 1!

heres that dx dig , let me know if ya see anything in here , been out of the loop for a while thanks to Isabel turing my car into a U-Boat.Only thing see in it says Stronghold needs to be reloaded but its working just fine , hope I attached this file right.

Well have not heard any feed back from my post om my DX dialouge I guess all can see from it that all my drivers are curent and i got no problems and I will say it again its not me but the game itself for example Whats drifrent in the programing of UV (Uncommon Valaor) from Korsun pocket that Korsun pocket is so DX unfrindley to me , WHY am I not having problems with other games Another example I just got 2 new games hot of the press and guess what they loaded fine and play just fine , Well I think from now on im going to stay away from Matrixgames because of there BS, they need to take example from the big boys in how ya make a game work because this KP is BS, as much as i love the games Matrixgames are puting out well for the Love Of Christ they need to work for the majoritey of pepole I love to know the true Percentage of which copeys of KP are working for folks like maybe 25% or maybe 50% well at least half are hapy other half who cares as long as the checks are being cashed just hate paying for a game that dosent work and I know im not the only one going threw this BS and that what this is pure BS.Can ya all tell that im very frustrated and disgruntled.

Yes ive tried it all and same old same old maybe it just dosent like ATI cards I have no idea but when all other games work just fine except this one well I took it back got another game and guess what that game as well loaded and plays fine go figure huh well im done with this nightmare and i will never buy games from matrixgames ever again unless it can be proven to me that it will work i shure wish i could get this game to work but cant handle the stress it has caused me exspecialey when all other games work just fine even new ones im geting as long as Matrixgames is not listed on the box all other games work fine for me maybe when i get a new computer i might try again but guess arddenes offence from ssi will have to do my fix havent loaded that one up in a while but at least it works.
