AI setting in PBEM

Does your setting have any bearing at all in PBEM games? Specifically if yours is different from your opponents. I had heard that it does.

The AI setting only affects the combat odds when you play against AI (but the tactical/strategic AI is always the same).

Therefore this doesn't affect the PBEM at all.
