Blizzard again...

Post by g00dd0ggy »

Just palying a '41 campaign v 3.3 and I was curious about the blizzard rules.

I am Axis, and I've had blizzard turns on 16th Nov and 30th Nov. I've played the game many times, and never seen a blizzard before December. Have the new versions changed the weather rules, or has there always been a chance of blizzard in Nov?

I should say that interestingly we also only had two turns of mud...so it was a very cold autumn too (to my advantage of course). That said the 16th Nov blizzard totally stuffed my drive on Moscow...

What a coincidence... I'm also playing a '41 campaign and we've had a blizzard on Nov 16 and one on Nov 30. This also came after a snowy autumn. There could be something here... it's unusual (I like the early blizzard but I don't like that I lost Moscow in October when it was supposed to rain) Does anybody know if it's actually intended in the code to have cold years (early winter) and warmer years (rain all autumn, blizzard on the usual Dec 7)? So I guess I'm practically seconding Gooddoggy's question :)

One of the games i am playing right now, had Blizzard turns start 1st week of Dec. and have not let up. it is now 2nd week of jan42.
Before that i'm not sure how the mud and snow were arranged.
The axis player was stopped outside Moscow with 2 hexsides and never really went for Leningrad.
He hoped to just cut it off from supply. But then the Blizzard stopped all forward motion.

In the previous games before my current game with K62 it was strict Oct rain, Nov snow, Dec to end of Feb blizzard with a few rain breaks. My current game was pretty odd weatherwise so far, but really it worked both ways. i'm curious to see how the winter turns out!

Looks to me like global warming has struck !
I didn't know it then, but looking back, in hindsight, I realize that when I was younger I could see into the future. Now I'm getting all my premonitions as flashbacks!

Well, it would be a more predictable game if the weather was always the same, so I guess it's a nice change. But I can only say that because I already took Moskva and Leningrad - had I not I'd probrably be screaming bloody murder right now!
