in my current game i recived reinforcment - 24 Sentai - with KI-43-1b Oscar....
which is the best purpose of this plane... they have weak gun value, they are not so fast as zero... but if im right they have better climb rate and maximum attitude then zero

Oscar squads are plane and pilot hogs. Try to keep them in rear area CAP taskings, or in bases where they're most likely to match up against older Allied aircraft. Once they gain some good experience, you can use them on the front proper for short periods of time. Even then, operate them with Zeros to keep them from being overwhelmed.

You would be better off taking a pail of rocks with you and throwing it at the enemy

I use them stricly as trainers until something better comes along I can shove my pilots into

I use them to give my Zero squads some rest. Usually they're a defensive weapon though.

I train them at Truk until the get around 60's in exp.
By this time they've also been upgraded to Oscar II's. Putting 3*36 Oscar II sqd's at a base will provide you with a usefull defensive force :)

The gun is too weak to shoot down Wildcats or Lightnings rather than damage them, but later on you acquire some Oscar II replacements. They have enough firepower to deal with the Allied planes. The Oscar II is a good fighter plane. Range is also fine.

The Tony is better in air-air combat than the Oscar, I think but its range is hopeless.
