Game manual in PDF?

Post by mjbruzzese »

I have been truly enjoying this game. So much so that I want to dig into the manual and learn all the nuances, options, details, etc. that are built in. Problem is that the print is so small in the manual provided that I get dizzy trying to read it. Is there a PDF version that I can print out in a more normal font. I see that there are scenario and map-editing manuals provided in PDF, but no rules manual. Is that available separately as a download?

Hehe, it's like going back in time [;)]

I believe they are working on a solution to this problem. Dave will by later, and I'm sure he will lament the loss of the last 4 months worth of posts.

Lament...lament... It's enough to make one cry. [:(] But then it does give us a wonderful clean slate with which to work. [:)]

Yup, I vaguely recall some passing comments in the dim and distant past re "The Manual Issue" . And so, Young Dave--pray tell us please what are you going to write on this pristine clean slate about the manual ? ---------- or perhaps you could issue each of us with a clean slate with the manual chalked on it............. I dont think game "hackers" ,as yet, have much experience duplicating chalked slates [;)]

OK fellows I have just checked with David Heath of Matrix tonight. Things are getting back to normal at Matrix now. So Marc Schwanebeck will now be able to devote some time to preparing the pdf Player Manual, replete with big type and big screen dumps. We will then review it and then it will be made available for download from this thread. This will probably take two weeks or so. This may vary depending on other priorities. So please be patient. We are working on it. It is coming.

Oh boy -- I did not mean to renew any simmering controversies! And, in my defense, before I posted my inquiry regarding the player manual, I did a search to see if the issue had ever been raised before. I take it that others had made similar requests for a pdf version of the player manual and I did not find any reference to it because the relevant posts were lost.

Well, in any event, I look forward to the pdf version of the manual.

Cheers, all!

New User Feedback: larger typesize manual in pdf format will be most welcome, especially if accessible by pressing F1 during gameplay. BUT, FYI, I very much like having the pocket-size manual to take with me when commuting/travelling! It's a great way to get familiar with the game instead of not having any choice but to lug a larger (and heavier) manual around.

Furthermore, kudos to Panther/Matrix for including the printed manual. It indicates to me a dedication to the game and the consumer that is sadly lacking in most other computer software in general, games in particular. I realize there are economic issues at play (no pun intended), but it is a touch of class to include a manual, especially one so well written.

Yeah I would like to see it too, but we must be patient, we cant have patches and addons and new features and manuals all at the same time, we need to make priorities, right now mine are:

1.Manual[:)]
2.See #1[;)]
3.Patch[:D]
4.Addons/New Editions [&o]
5....no 5.....yet[:'(]

OK fellows. We hear you. Today I have some good news and some bad news. First the good news. We will be releasing a pdf version of the existing manual with the patch. [:)] And now the bad news....what no bad news...we'll that's terrific...what, more good news... oh yes...so far no bugs reported in testing the patch. Paul and I successfully challenged each other to a network game using the new Battle HQ feature. Even though I had to surrender as soon as his motorised infantry overran my Div HQ all went well technically. [:)] Beta testers have until Fri afternoon to report in. Otherwise we plan to sign off on the patch this week. It should then be available for download next week.[:D]
