Transport Question

Post by Xargun »

I am playing scenario #19 I think - the big one at the end.. - South from Rabaul I think its called. I have been using my 4 squadrons of C-47 Transport planes (Yes, I am the Allies) to ferry combat units and engineers to various bases to reinforce and speed their development, but I have found a feature (or more likely a bug).. Every time I get the majority of the unit transfered to the new base, the planes refuse to haul the last few squads over.. I know have several partial units at my bases and no matter how many times I try to tell the planes to ferry them, they always instead carry supplies... Does anyone know of a fix for this ? Or something that I am doing wrong ?

Thanks,

I am running into the same kind of problem. I know that some engineer units have vehicles the Dakotas can't carry (dozers and such) but i am having trouble moving an AA unit. maybe the guns are too big.
There are only two kinds of people that understand Marines: Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion.

C-47s will not carry tanks, bulldozers, AA guns 40mm and larger, or any artillery larger than 105 mm except the Australians' 25 pdr howitzers.

Cool.. Thanks for the update.. I'm glad there is a logical reason why I can't transport these items... Makes me even happier with the realism of the game... Now I just need some transports....

They also won't carry radar, which can be a big deal, since the base force aviation support will be limited to a repair role and won't be able to coordinate CAP.

I understand about the heavy equipement (learned that by trial and error), but I've had the same problem with marine and army airborne units. Ain't all there equipement and personnel supposed to be air transportable?

The airbourne units should all be air-transportable, but it can take a while to move the 75 mm Pack Howitzers. I've moved all the men of a marine ab regiment in one turn and then taken two more turns to lift their bigger guns.

And you have to differentiate between air transportable and air droppable. You've got to capture an airfield to bring in those pack 75s. If you try throwing them out of a C-47, they will hit the pavement like sacks of wet cement ...
