what is up with the poland campaign?

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

Post by SSgt Matt »

I have tried 2 campaign scen. I am the Germans and have been deluged by polish forces....hell if the poles had that many tanks and men, how did germany defeat them in a few weeks? Also, their tanks are way, way to strong, any suggestions.

Thanks

I found that early III series are woefully underarmored and undergun. I usually pick my core forces from the IV series until the III j (s). Artillery also do wonder against the mass wave of infantry.

Heck with the PzIIIs... go for PzIs to deal with the infantry and the Czech 38 tanks to take care of anything armored.

in the old days of sp, if you bought the czech 38's you could not upgrade them as fast as the mk3's. Also, what is the time line of most battles? ie: a turn is 1 hour or 5 minutes or what?

I mentioned this to Yogi in another thread. The main problem with the Poles, assuming we're talking about campaigning here, is their artillery, but more importantly it's the 19 man rifle squads. In the OOBs, the second Polish rifle squad was once 19 as well, but apparently that one was adjusted without doing the previous one as well. Perhaps someone can snip those rifles by version 5.

In my experience the 19 man squads are just bigger targets that attrite at a greater rate.
I could make them historically correct by splitting them into two 7 man rifle teams and a 5 man LMG team but that would ruin your day playing with Command Control on.

Personally, I don't buy them because they are ineffective; they take too many casualties too quickly and they dissipate too soon. If the AI can do that to me, I can return the favour with a few Pz1's
They struggled with a ferocity that was to be expected of brave men fighting with forlorn hope against an enemy who had the advantage of position......knowing that courage was the one thing that would save them.
