When Officers Burn Their Uniforms

Post by Redleg »

Very cold in the Stalingrad "Cauldron". German troops are suffering unspeakable horrors yet they hold on.....

In the middle of the night, rumors abound as the General Staff Officers of the German 94th Rifle Divsion are seen burning their trousers with the distinctive red stripe down the leg. Also thrown in to the fires were officer caps and insignia of rank.

Soon, explosions begin just behind the lines. The troops realize it is the destruction of their supplies.... then, comes the order: "Destroy your defensive positions and prepare to withdraw".

The Soviet commander upon hearing the reports orders and immediate all-out assault upon the 94th Divisions positions. He knows that if he is fortunate, his attack will coincide with his foe's withdrawal from the line.

How did this all come out?

Post here and I'll send you "The Vanishing Division" update. I think the balance is pretty good but some testing would be helpful. This is a pure infantry battle. Semi-residential area.

Or, you can email "artifice@fireserve.net".
I am determined to have these things all updated! Image

I've played "Vanishing Division" before and it's alot of fun.

I liked the story I read of one 6th Army general who preached the "last bullet but one" philosophy to his troops, but when the Soviets came it turned out he had a suitcase packed - all ready to go into captivity! Image
