AI Ability

Post by herbieh »

Just a comment about the AI, which might surprise some people, but gives me great confidence in WITP.
I have been playing scene 15 as the Japs, about december 1942, I saved the game , and began playing it head to head for a while. During that time I invaded PM with 2 divisions of the allied troops, just to see what would happen as they fought the division of troops Japan had there.
I thought I would just have some fun, seeing how the AI would then go, and how viable it was to try to reinforce PM with 2 more japanese divisions, and see how much carnage would result.
As soon as the troops landed, I gave the AI control back.
Now the AI had already lost 6 CVs, 3 BBs , heaps of ships, ect, I had lost 1BB, 1CV.
Well, its now June 1943, and the AI is winning[:(]
Pm has fallen, and 5 Jap divisions had to march to LEA, where Im evacuating them. GG has fallen, I smashed the invasion of Dobadura, but troops are marching over the trak and Buna is doomed
Give the AI time, and it appears to be relentless. I tried this experiment because I didnt think the AI was capable of an offensive.
Initial invasions it handles poorly, but in WITP I fear Japan will be steamrolled, which is great really.
Of all the games I've played of UV, against the AI, trying to defend against this steamroller has been the most interesting.
Anyone else played against the AI, late 43?

Might be fun once or for practice, but once you figure out the AI it becomes too easy. Play humans via email for the real deal.[;)]
