Documentation? Tips?

Post by 609IAP_Thumper »

Got the demo. Love it.

Is there any manual to go with the demo? Are there helpful hints or tips online? Where?

Thx in advance for any help. My 18 yr old son wouldn't read it or need to, but I need to, lol.

There should be a sixty page PDF file named "DemoManual.pdf" installed along with the demo. There should also be a shortcut to the manual in the Windows Start menu: Destroyer Studios / Starshatter Demo / Player Manual. Please let us know if the manual did not get installed on your computer.

Thanks,

I missed the Destroyer Studio folder earlier. I was looking for it in the Matrix folder. Found it now.

Thx.

No problem. The Starshatter 3.9 demo was released in conjunction with the Independent Game Festival at this year's GDC. It predates our relationship with Matrix. Now that you have found the manual, please let us know if any parts of it seem unclear.

By the way, I'm almost done writing the manual for the retail version. The new manual is about twice as long, and has considerably more detail regarding flight systems, navigation, carrier flight operations, and tactical communications. There is also a fifteen page chapter on how to use the built-in mission editor.

Will the retail version have a printed manual ? Even an abbreviated one would be nice.

Yes, it should. How abbreviated will be up to the Matrix production crew. I tend to be long-winded when I write, so they may want to edit me down a bit. I'm used to that. :)

Hahaha!

Write the strategy guide ... no one ever reads a manual, give us what we really need [:D]

Point there! Strategy guide (or tactic guide) would be good addition. Also manuals or files about modding, Magic and terrain editor.
You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

I for one do like manuals with a little background Info with them. For example the Starfleet Command Manual was fun to read as it told a lot about the different sides and their weaknesses and abilities and there was also a lot about the ships and their design histories.
Maybe a short, printed manual and a longer one with historic information would be a good compromise...
