ETA on patch?

Frank Hunter's Campaigns on the Danube is an operational study of the campaigns along the Danube in 1805 and 1809. Campaigns on the Danube's system focuses on trying to present the player with the same sort of decisions placed on their historical counterparts; how to feed an army and move that army according to a plan, all the while trying to fight a campaign. There is also an option to allow players to play out the battles with miniatures and input the results.

Yeah, what the heck is going on?

We get one side of the story and no info from anyone else at Matrix as to what is going on. When directly contacting Mr. Hunter about the patch availability we get a reply of - you'll have to ask Matrix about that.

So we're asking.

This seem a rather poor start (game and patch situation-wise) for one of the first downloadable releases. The games I have previously bought from matrix have never been in this bad a shape (from reports here on the forum - I'm not buying it until it is patched and playable).

Very disappointing.[:(]

We like to test patches before releasing them. Just because the developer thinks he has fixed it does not mean its so or that another bug was not introduced. This happened a few times as we developed the current version. So just sit tight as we test this.

Is there a list of what the patch addresses?

Matrix should not be blamed for caution on this one. Frank is a good game designer; but he has struggled for eight years to fix the bugs in his old ACW game, and it's still not fully debugged. I'm hoping that his new games will start with a better foundation and be more reliable, but at this stage it remains to be seen.

yes, I think its better to err on the side of caution. There are game companies whose patches create more bugs than they fix.

Zed,

I would absolutely agree. Also, at least for the games I have purchased from Matrix (KP and HTTR) the responsiveness and quality of the patches have been quite good. I am confident the patch wil resolve bugs in the game - I just wish the amount of map shown were larger!!

when I played SPI and Avalon Hill games my two favorite campaigns were Leipzig 1813 and Austerlitz 1805. I know 1806 Prussia fairly well and 1812 Russia. Never played Wagram. With CoTD I want to recapture the excitement when I was 18-24 again.

The patch really needs to come out soon. I crash the battle screen all the time.

Even if it is to just fix the bugs that crash the game.

I'm trying to be patient, but my interest is waning with this one...
