Game Locks Up

Post by New York Jets »

Sometimes during combat, whether animations are on or off, the game freezes up, completely. Ctr-Alt-Del won't even work and I have to cold re-boot which I know is not good for my hard drive. Is there a way to stop these 'lock ups'?

Hi, How much memory do you have? Lockups are often when system runs out of resources. Make sure you close all your TSR programs before starting game. (you may need to go into your system config and make sure programs you don't need don't load when you turn on your machine.

I have 512MB RAM. Which TSR programs in particular are you referring to?

What OS do you use: Win 98/ME or Win2000/XP?
512MB are enough if you are not running any memory eating utilities while playing. These can be P2P Software, VirusScanners or any other "Guarding Software" for Internet connection (packet filters, personal firewalls,...)
On my WinXP Game-PC I just have Customizer-XP's memory recovery tool running. But I turn it off when playing, otherwise it tries to recover RAM when the application needs it and then lagging starts - not good when playing a FPS.

bye, Gecko
