Who will buy Guns of August?

Frank Hunter's Campaigns on the Danube is an operational study of the campaigns along the Danube in 1805 and 1809. Campaigns on the Danube's system focuses on trying to present the player with the same sort of decisions placed on their historical counterparts; how to feed an army and move that army according to a plan, all the while trying to fight a campaign. There is also an option to allow players to play out the battles with miniatures and input the results.

Who will buy Guns of August?

Post by wodin »

Who on the basis of playing this game will then go and buy Guns of August?

Im asking this as I want Guns of August and so when I finally get it I might think "That Frank Hunter sure makes damn good games I will go and buy Danube".

Sort of reverse logic involved here.

Well I really liked Frank Hunters ACW game which is why I'm interested in Campaign on the Danube. Unfortunately, I'm a bit doubtful about Matrix games so I'm still trying to decide whether to buy it or not.

What exactly is Guns of August, I havent' heard of it before?

Sorry! Just answered my own question when I spotted a board for it on this forum. Its a WW1 game.

I just bought Campaigns on the Danube; this being my second Matrix game. I previously had Uncommon valor. I am anxiously awaiting War in the Pacific.
I have only good things to say about Matrix and its support.
With all the expectation that their War in the Pacific game has engendered, any other company would have gone gold a year ago, and put out a half baked product. The fact that they are taking so long, testing and retesting their product, showcases their respect for their customers, and the quality of their product.
Hope this helps
