How Long Will it Take??

Now that "Enemy at the Gates" has become available, how long will it take before the computer gaming industry comes out with a "first person shooter" based upon the movie. I personally do not like these types of games, but there certainly are possibilities.

Just imagine, your first person character has to hunt down the supreme enemy sniper in the chaotic rubble of a war torn city (like Stalingrad). In the course of his mission he must deal with multiple enemy snipers that are in pursuit of him.

Just a thought.

There are already a couple of game engines out on the market for this type of game (Rogue Spear and Rainbow Six are the ones that come to mind immediately).

Making an Enemy At the Gates game would just then be a question of level design and maybe weapon modification, and it wouldn't surprise me to discover someone's already at work on it.

There is a mod for the game Halflife thats reasonably close, it is still in a beta version, but fully playable (online or lan multiplayer only though, but nothing beats human opponents anyway ). You have to own the game Halflife of course...

Thanks MSG...I have Half -Life and I love it...just...trying to get it to work since I upgraded my video card to the 3dfx5500. But I saved the page and I'll try it later.

I doubt they will make a game for it. I play a lot of first person shooters, and the crowd that follows them usually likes a lot of blood. You might see people make a specific level or a mod for it though. It would be nice to see it.
BTW: The sniper rifle happens to be my favorite weapon in Unreal Tournament.
