Sorry if this a repeat, since I'm having no luck on a search...

Is there a translation for the ":::::", "++++" on the air attack result screen, when attacking ships with aircraft. I'm not sure if it represents damage severity to aircraft or not. I remember an ancient post asking this, but can't find it.

it is to do with damage, basically every * represents a plane getting hit (although not necesarily the same plane) ie 4 planes attacking and ******* (7) stars means thre were 7 hits between the 4 planes.
I shall make it a felony to drink small beer.
