CTD when trying to play hawk death match online...

Post by TexMurphy »

When trying to play hawk match in multi player me and Lovemonk had the game crash on us.

We tried both me and him hosting, same result.

We hosted on "local server".

Lovemonk was on direct connection while I was behind a router with a NAT addy. (I got all related ports open and forwarded to the game PC).

Any help would be apriciated.

Sorry about that. There's a bug in the Hawkmatch mission in the 3.9.0 demo. If I remember correctly, the problem is that the mission is set in a star system that got dropped from the demo to save space.

The workaround is for whoever is running the server to edit the mission to be in a valid star system.

1. Before starting the multiplayer server, select the Hawkmatch mission from the list and click "Edit".

2. On the first page of the mission editor, select a new star system and starting sector from the drop lists at the upper right of the display.

3. Click the PKG button at the bottom to show the packages page of the editor.

4. For each of the four elements in the mission, open the element detail dialog by double-clicking the name of the ship.

5. Assign each package to the starting sector using the drop list on the left hand side of the detail dialog.

6. Click "Accept" to save the multiplayer mission to the server's hard disk and you are ready to go.
