Nothing much you need to do, but be aware of a couple things

You need the appropriate planes in the pool at 133% (allies) or 125% (Japs) if the max strength of the recieving unit.

Upgrades are only possible if the recieving unit is within 2x transfer of Brisbane/Noumea or Truk for the Japanese. This is based on the old plane not the new. So shorter-ranged fighters may need to transfer back.

The lowest numbered qualifying unit gets the upgrade. Otherwise the upgrade path is fixed. You have no control over what upgrades to what or when.

They do not need to be stood down- one day a squad is flying P-39s and the next the are in P38's, fully functional. Not eally very realistic, but that's the way it works.

Wildcats will upgrade to Corsairs if at a land base, or to Hellcats if on a carrier. So it's possible have a CV squad transferred to a land bae, upgrade to Corsairs, then jump back on a carrier. This is a bug, and intentionally doing this is generally considerd innapropriate. There have been many discussions on the topic in the past.

Hope this helps

Marky - hang on in there - it will be worth the wait. BTW don't you know anyone who can let you try and load UV on their PC just to find out if it is the CD or the computer?
