Ever solve the turret issue?
@TheDeadlyShoe> Unless, say, you could make black holes at will.
@Razeam> I can do that but I don't want to.

Damocles,

That is absolutely gorgeous. Heck, it looks like it just stepped out of the show... amazing work.

Thanks guys,

thanks Erik, I"ve been doing some practice on houses and tanks and such, been trying to get into the industry, I had an interview at maddoc, but they are still working out their budget and stuff, so I took what I learnt doing those models and a applyed that to the b5 ships, they didnt really have detail like a lot of grime or weathering in the show, but I think that was just because of limits at the time.

She is low poly, i"m trying to keep any ship without turrents around the 4k - 4.5k mark and any ship with turrents around the 2k mark

More to come:) need to offer as many reasons as possible for starshatter ehheheheh
(ya this will only work with commercial starshatter)

Damocles,

Keep up the fantastic work. Did I mention I have a Narn B5 Fleet Action minis fleet (among others)? [8D] I'm loving these shots and really looking forward to giving these ships a try in game.

Try to think of it as part of being a properly Democratic person - not everything you end up doing is necessarily what you want to do but what *needs* doing.

And this definately *needs* doing :>

Those are, by the way, beautiful models.
However to make a B5 mod functional, we need the .def's which as I recall were something of a sticking point due to issues regarding balance (that most fleeting thing).

How to do "Point Defense Grids" as opposed to shields could be interesting. I know that the NPC ships can shoot down torpedos (But not fighter launched missiles?), though I don't recall ever seeing my turrets do so (though my attention could have been elsewhere ;>) and they're usually on "def" setting. If that does work appropriately, you could configure the main weapons to be unguided torps with a high launch cost (and lots and lots of ammo).

There may have been more cunning methods previously discussed though.

And how do you do hyperspace? :>

I agree, and I'm not even a B5 fan.

Ok, about the 'Point Defense Grids', do they end up functioning like shields, or are they arrays of guns that shot down incoming projectiles? If the latter, i believe it would be possible (not sure though) to just plop a bunch of PD weapons all over the ship that are designed to only take out incoming missiles. Fighter missiles can be shot down, depending on how they are defined. Since Damo will be making all his own fighter missiles, he could make them all PD-shootable. And if the main weapons need to be shootable, what you suggest is possible, and there needn't be any ammo included either, i believe any weapons could be coded to have unlimited ammo. I can't remember, but it might even be possible to have the 'Point Defense Grid' be locked on defense and uncontrollable by the player. I know this is the case if there are more than 4 weapon groups, the fifth and higher weapon groups are locked on 'def' (or perhaps that setting can be defined in the ship .def file?)

Milo did say something once about how to do a B5 hyperspace (now I might not be understanding this correctly as I dont understand how it works in the show). You would have a farcaster set up to drop you in a new sector that had a background that looked like hyperspace and then you could fly to another farcaster to enter the system you are headed to.

[edit] Damo, wait...you're not currently working in the 3D modeling business?? Man, when this gets out there, people are going to start fearing for their jobs!

I think we have workthroughts for most things
I was thinking up firing up the old forums to get all the chatting and stuff going, but I dont need another hassel so we can chat here.

I"ll post more info tonight, i"m SURE I have everything worked out here, to some degree, right now i"m doing this alone, I"m gettin some help from blackwolf but he is really busy these days, so once I get the page up i"ll probably start looking for people to sign up and help out.

Well, its suprisingly hard to get into the busness, maddoc is a maby, they are waiting for budget approval, but I dont know how long I can hold out(been out of school for 2 months now, starting to feel the need to MABY hit the job market)

next up, the bintak

I'll probably start putting them in game, um, when I have all of one race done, like all the narns done.

takes a lot of time, and I'm kind of setup to roll out the models right now, still have to do some things, like um, figure out wtf to do with weapons, I was thinking of doing it according to aog, but I have to go through a lot of work to balance those to the game, so we will see, for now, just building the models is what i'm concentrating on, maby this weekend will see a few put in game.
