Game Doesn't Run After Renaming Sound Directory

Post by Bob L »

I'm an Audigy2 owner bit by the sound bug. Tried renaming the Sound directory. Game stops after Matrix and 2X3 intro. Any suggestions?[:(]

You can try renaming the Video directory as well, but you definitely have some other issues going on there.

list all your specs please. ie: hardware, operating system etc.

The sound glitch has been during the execution of the first turn. You don't sound like you are even getting there.

Mr. Frag, thanks for the reply. Guess it's going to be a looong nite! Yer a saint!!

When I first tried the game, I got into the first turn of the full war scenario. During the Japanese first turn, the sound began to garble and finally the game crashed during an aerial combat. Sounds pretty much like every else's problem. I ran DIAGX - no problems and emailed a log in. Then I tried renaming the Sound directory to NOSOUND. Game plays the Matrix intro and pops back to the initial screen. Renaming Sound directory back to SOUND, and I'm back to the original problem. Here's my specs:

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 1 (2600.xpsp2.030422-1633)

System Model: AWRDACPI
BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.06GHz

Windows Dir: C:\WINDOWS
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0b (4.09.0000.0902)
