Loading Barge

Well D/L 8.20, thought to try the Tulagi part of the campaign,
Maybe something I'm missing, Yes I know about the Shift ket to stack units in a hex and as need have units in a hex to load, riddle me this, you need barge to get to other island, however once unload a barge from a barge carrier, the barge is in water, never mind its offshore, ther seems no way to get any group onto a water hex, so its impossiable as I see it to Load the barges, with out loading the barges cant cross to other island...

Ok tell me the simle thing i'm missing..

I don´t know the particular scenario, but maybe there´s a bridge deployed in water or deep water? A Bridge and water hex enables loading/unloading.

A barge can be loaded from one hex away. Select the barge, hit "L", then click on the unit you want to load. It sucks them in. The only problem is that you can only load one unit per barge this way.

To load multiple units on a barge during the game you have to use a dock/bridge.

Well in Tulagi, theres a bridge, read where your supposed be able move barge into hex with bridge but it doesn't go in, Have tried the load with a squad onshore or on bridge and barge a hex away , keep getting the "too far away" error.

I didn't through use the L hot key but the Icon to load so will try a bit more.

Man... it was easier to do Amphib loading/unloading in the old Pacific war vis a vis SPwaw...

SPwaw should have ability build a PORT and anchor ships there and just Move units onto/off ships..

(moving units into hex with a Barge/Lst/Ap ship should auto load the unit good grief!)

Be sure to select the barge and then load. If you select the passenger and try to load it won't work.

Well got it to work, not always works, perhaps theres something about loading when even through a hex off shore it doesn't in deep water or rough

sometimes if the terrain height is 5 or greater there is a difficulty in loading certain units,suppression counts too.[8D]

Can anyone answer me a more basic question about barges . . . how do they work? Do I buy any old landing craft out of the Misc menu, plus a barge carrier, and load it up on deployment? Do barge carriers come with barges?

Can anyone give me a barge carrier 101?
