Is it possible to speed up aircraft research and development?

Post by cpt_Venomous »

Is it possible to speed up aircraft research and development? I'm kind of assuming but knowing for sure is still better, playing 42-46 campaign and just for the heck of it I switched all of Tokyo's aircraft plants to George-rd fighter in hope that it will speed up the research, please provide me with pointers if Im wrong or am I right, also is there research progress bar or a progress percentage feature in WitP? Thank You

Frag posted a cryptic comment about how Gary G had made too much research impossible.. so I would assumefrom this that A> yes you can and B> not too much..

I think factories that do research expand very slowly.

Only approx. 8 points for the A6M3 will contribute to R&D each month.
Only approx. 3 points for the A6M5c will contribute to R&D each month.
No R&D being done for the Betty's.

At least thats why I think how R&D works.

What the others have said is correct.

The bottom line is that yes you can speed it up but it is normally very expensive in exconomic terms and can take a long time before you see any reduction in the service date (if at all).

What you did would be correct if you needed an earlier introduction of the George badly enough to forgo all other a/c production at Tokyo as well as pay a very big price in supply. You need to consider the trade off involved.

BTW, looking at the production levels of Tokyo, the effort of switching production over might only give you the George a month or two earlier for about 2 years R&D effort.

Choose your R&D changes carefully. [;)]

And no, there is no research progress bar.

If you toggle the repair heading ifrom yes to no, what impact does that have?

If set to no, the damaged (bracketed) industry component will not be repaired. Amongst other things, it's a way of avoiding the paying of the repair cost if supplies are needed elsewhere.

Won't the date in the Aircraft replacement pool at the Intelligence section update?
