Over 8 Character Filename Conflict

Ive been enjoying playing Korsun Pocket email games for a while now but this has usually been with scenarios with me starting. When I asked my opponent to start he made a file to send but it turned out when I went to open the file my game crashed straight to desktop. Weve always played using my game set up with 8 characters (e.g korsun01) in the filename. When my friend sent a file with 12 characters (eg chrisjkorsun) the game didnt work. Its taken a while for my friend to do his turn ( opening move on full campaign) so I havent heard from him since I said that his turn didnt work.

Is this a common problem and if so we need to inform people (as the manual says 48 characters max) or could matrix and just play modify their patches. Ive got euro version 1.11 with just play patch. I know I should prob get on at just play but the guy who sent me was using US version is this a compatibility issue?
