Is it indeed a bug? I have gotten the message often when the target box is not touching a friendly unit counter and it is/was irritating, but then I realized the friendly unit footprint is usually larger than the counter (I always target at max zoom). Trouble is, you can't see the friendly footprint when you're laying fire... So I just keep moving the target box incrementally away from my guy until the shells start dropping (and they always will eventually). Too bad friendly fire was not coded in real life.......

no, there's a bug all right

try historic Arnhem with the Brits - by D+7 or so the city centre is a virtual "safe haven" for the Germans, as XXX Corps arty can hardly fire into the area without overlapping the site of a dead para unit - sometimes there's no (live) British units within a couple of k's, yet still the message.

You can usually work around it (there's always another target elsewhere to hit) but it sure causes anguish here, too.

Oh, - I see. Thanks for letting me know. Reason I didn't know was I still can't bring myself to play Arnhem Historical. Too darn depressing....

What were they thinking???

Just finishing Arnham historic have got a decisive victory(I hope). But my Arty(Brit) was next to useless in many cases. Lost a lot more men than was needed due to this "feature".

Recommend a good scenario for my next fix? something with a bit meat to it.
