Some Newbie Questions

Post by thepeeler »

Guys,

This is the game I have wanted since I was a kid! Thanks so much.

A few questions (have 1.1 patch and playing vs AI):

1. Playing as Japanese, some ground units/arifields are light red, others dark red. What is the distinction?

2. Watching the ground combat reports for my landings, I see 800/500/250 etc losses to my troops while unloading at pretty lightly defended bases. Are these accurate numbers or are they FOW numbers? They seem like Omaha beach level losses for 1 day.

3. Why don't the save games record the side info? I accedentally opened as the other side and saw some unit positionings.

4. At some newly invaded bases I cannot access my ground units. Their names appear when I hover over the ground icon, but the list is empty when I click. I had to access them through the G-hotkey to order an attack.

Thanks for your help!

1. The darker the color, the more troops present.

2. Some of that will be FOW, but in general you'll always experience pretty high 'casualties' among the troops wading ashore. This represents the disruption of landing, someone breaking their leg, falling over the side with a full pack, etc. Rest them for awhile and most of the casualties are recovered (provided you are in supply).

3. Not sure about this, more of a design question than a game mechanic question.

4. I've read others have reported issues along these lines. Sounds like an interface bug. Hopefully it'll be fixed with the next patch.

Hope this helps.
