Is this a Bug? - How Do you play Japanese?

Post by geozero »

I'm trying to play the Japanese, and have Historical First Turn turned OFF and December 7th Surprise Turned OFF.... as I want to be able to attack differently, etc.

Then why when the game launches BEFORE I've done ANYTHING does pressing "c" bring up a report that there have been numerous attacks including capital ships sunk and damaged at Pearl Harbor???????

Also, all my CV's are in port near Japan, and they can not POSSIBLY reach Pearl Harbor. Seems I have PH surrounded by submarines but that's all.

Seems pretty lame if I can't play the Japanese from the very beginning...

Someone please enlighten me...

[:D]

Edited: I'm trying to play the full campaign.

I believe what you are seeing is the combat report from the last scenario you played. My guess you did a historical turn/allied surprise run through just before you started your new scenario?

Fresh re-boot, fire up the WitP Full campaign... hit the "c" for combat reports and it STILL SHOWS all kinds of activity including devastating attacks on Pearl Harbor by phantom flocks of seagulls, cause my Jap ships are in port 1000's of miles away...

This is WEIRD... and frustrating.

Reports are left from the previous session to aid people who run combat replays then start their turn. This lets them see the files from the replay while working on their order.

The combat report is saved as a text file, thus the last combat you engaged in will always show back up regardless of rebooting etc.

No bug.

They don't start near PH......they have a Heck of a movement advantage that first turn that will get you there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Trust me you can make it there.
Are you letting the Jap production just follow historical lines with no tweaking on your part? The production for japan is where alot of Fun is to be had!!! What aircraft are you producing? What engines are you producing for them? Expanding your armaments? Vehicle production? How about naval or merchant shipyards? Trust me on this........there is alot more to "worry about" than getting your carriers to PH!

Japs start in their ports but can move at 20 times their normal daily distance on the first turn.
So much WitP and so little time to play.... :-(

You'll find the cv fleet near the northern islands of japan before it moves to hawaii. You can change the aircraft attack orders, cap, etc before you process the turn.
