Mistake

Post by o4r »

Not interested in any more new changes in data. But the mistake in data.

PV IV F2 & G (I think) whilst playing email set on date Feb 1943, Russia vs German, he complained that he cannot purchase any long barrel PV IV.

Hmmm..after a quick peek into the oob's there seems to be a gap. F2 and G models are available until Dec. 1942 but H model won't be available until April 1943. So yes, there is a 3 month gap in the beginning of the 1943 when long-barreled PzIV's are unavailable.
Whether this is a bug or actual lack of production, I cannot tell.

It's a bug I say. At least I don't believe that all long-barreled Pz IV's were destroyed in december 1942 [;)].

I download my SPWAW 8.2 on a German website and when I run my game, there is a version 9.5 (I think) it is right version ?

I cant download the game from this site... whenever I go to download SPWAW 8.2, it is a blank page.

Version 8.20 here, dunno where you have gotten this other version number. The download page is indeed blank, but I'm sure that is only temporary.

Yeah, the Matrix download site seems to be broken, but you can access the download page of the SP:WAW page directly with this link: http://www.steelpanthersworldatwar.com/downloads.asp

Geeze, I sure hope that's a bug/mistake/oversight. According to onwar.com the PzIV Ausf G was produced right up to June of '43.

As you cannot set the end of availability any other than end of the year, the solution could be making the H model available from Jan 1943. Imho a smaller error than extending G model to Dec. 1943.

Why making it worse? Just take the historical production dates:

Pz IV F2 produced from March to July 1942
Pz IV G produced from May 1942 to June 1943.

So why shouldn't G's be available until Dec 1943?

Well, for F2 the date cannot be March to July 1942. It can be March to Dec 1942.
And G, it could be May 1942 to Dec 1943. In both cases the tank will be available outside its construction period.
Or, May 1942 to Dec 1942 for G as it is now. As long as the only available end month is December compromises must be done.
Now which is worse? One tank bit early or two tanks too long? I'll leave it to Bryan [:'(]

OK, but I thought we were talking about availability. It's pretty obvious that a tank can't be available before production started, but why shouldn't it be still available after production ended?
At the end of WWII there were still Tigers available, allthough production ended June 44!?

Following that the 263 6-Rad shouldn't be available in September 1939, because production ended in 1937. Same goes for the PzKpfWg I A +B.

It appears to be a mistake that crept in for version 8 and was not spotted until now.
They struggled with a ferocity that was to be expected of brave men fighting with forlorn hope against an enemy who had the advantage of position......knowing that courage was the one thing that would save them.

The problem arise is when we play by mail. German side had Tiger but for medium, they end up with only Pz III and no IV version.

Yes. It is. Dam in the water..

It is a mouse scroll error - the PZ IVG should end 1943 and not 1942. My mistake.

I'll fix this and see what can be done.
