minelayers and TF

Post by KPAX »

1. Is there an easy way to ycle through the TF like PacWar ? I am having a hard to find them all. Is there some way of doing this other than via the top bar ?

2. Is there an easy way to know where your ships are going ?

3. Is there a way to patrol between two waypoints?

4. How long to you need to keep a minelayer in a particular hex ? One turn enough or more ?

5. For subs, I am thinking of laying mines in a hex than go on patrol in the same hex. Does that make sense ?

1) Havent really found any. Bottom left hand corner in main screen has buttons, but they only cycle through bases and TF's in same hex.

2) In top task bar you have every TF's destination and mission. Also selected TF's course is shown by the 'yellow brick road'.

3) Not automatically. You have to change direction each turn.

4) It doesn't need to stay but a single turn, no 'Patrol/Do not retire' command needed. But if you are going to defence mine your own base, you need first select it as your destination and then select destination again, but this time right-click at target hex. When it reads destination as hex cordinates instead base name, mines are layed.

5) I don't recomend to use the same sub. As sub loads mines, it loses two reloads for it's torpedoes. Thus a good target can get away, when your sub gets only one shot at it and your sub automatically leaves patrol zone for re-armament. And dedicated minelayer subs (Argonaut on US side and I-121 class on IJN) are very valuable and should never be used as attack boats.
