Crash to desktop (not only in tutorial)

Post by Gresbeck »

I've downloaded the game here on my computer at work, burned it on a CD and installed at home. The game seemed to install fine. I've not installed the patches yet, but I've problem running every scenario (or at least running scenario 2), not only the tutorial. The game crashes to the desktop systematically after a few clicks, especially when I click to select a unit or to exit a screen.
I'm running the game on an Athlon 2800+ (2,08 Ghz), 512 Mb RAM, Geforce 4, Windows XP professional (service pack 1 installed). I sould have the latest version of directX. Any suggestion?

Looks like the sound bug to me... What sound card are you using? You might want to also check DirectX to be certain it's updated to 9.0b (or 9.0c if it's out). They're working a soundbug fix though and it should be out in about a week if all goes well. Also, go in and check to make certain your drivers are all updated. Not just DirectX. But check your sound and video too. If you're still getting CTD's after all that? Its the soundbug for certain... There's "get arounds" posted in the support forum here about how to avoid them in lieu of the patch though...

Well hopefully they work for you. Judging by the fact you've yet to return to the forum I conclude they have and you're knee deep playing. hehehe.... [8D]
