Hull repair!
I believe hull repair should be added to the patch list. It makes no sense to go into battle with your hull at 18%.
Thanks

Ever thought of the TRANSFER command?
Let someone else have it while you take a ship in better shape [:'(]
RE: Hull repair!
You should be able to send a ship into a dock, X ammount of hull points per day. A Destroyer should take over a week to repair from say 10% armour left.

It would be nice to be able to send ships out of the campaign for repairs, but really you need to be grand admiral to have that level of control.
Is there a withdrawl function for the campaign engine? I noticed a reserve element.

Only problem with that is the damaged ships can't provide any sustained support. You can't take out 2 DDs with one good one no matter how good you are!
Thanks

A week? To repair a destroyer!
Hahaha! [;)]
Realistically it would take at least months to patch up a severely damaged vessel. It would be interesting if there were a hardcore mode wherein subsystem damage was persistent....

@TheDeadlyShoe> Unless, say, you could make black holes at will.
@Razeam> I can do that but I don't want to.

I beg to differ on that point. I have, do, and can take out odds 3:1. All Spectres.ORIGINAL: whammo11224

You know what they say, don't you? About how us MechWarriors are the modern knights, how warfare has become civilized now that we have to abide by conventions and rules of war. Don't believe it.

Re; Pheagey. Only if you screw up their deployment so they cant salvo torps on you. [:'(]
*EDIT*
Yep I just ran through it a bunch of times and the only way I can conceive of winning that one in a Spectre is to timeskip yourself under them so you get a clear shot at the fusion generators. You simply take too much punishment closimg from 50 KMs. It wrecks all your offensive weaponry, even if you survive it. I even tried going in backwards-ffacing, but I lost the fusion plant for my troubles.
I think I could've taken them with the CA Vendetta if the damned missiles didnt work for some reason. CA Devestator worked fine. Didn't try Courageous or a Marakan destroyer (might be a good idea; they have better PD.)

could someone explain how this is done?

RE: Hull repair!
I suppose that if technology never stagnanted far enough, the ship could be dry-docked in a nanotechnological paste that systematically replaces the components and hull as dictated by a mainframe system with a schematic of what the ship is supposed to look like. All-in-all, with such a system ships could be brought back from the brink as long as the computer system could make heads or tails of what was left.

It can't be done ... we are talking about *adding* it as a feature that would be nice [;)]

RE: Hull repair!
I think you need to change your philosophy and don't get hung up on a particular ship. Think in terms of your fleet, not just one particular ship. I've completed all but one of the campains so far and have mannaged in all cases to keep "most" of my fleet intact. I just take the badly wounded and fall them back to carrier to help in defense.

RE: Hull repair!
By the way, hull repair was added in 4.0.2. All ships with less than 50% hull remaining receive emergency hull repairs between each mission, to the tune of about 10% increase in hull strength each time. Basically, little guys in space suits go out and spot-weld spare hull plating over the larger leaks in each boat.
Naturally, just to be fair, enemy ships get the same benefits.
