loading error

I just downloaded the mega campaings generals edition and completed D-day with the scraming eagles and now when I get to the point where I am going to start market garden. I click continue on the breifing map and I get error messages with numbers at the bottom of the screen and then I go to a choose side page and both switches are german and then I click continue there and I crash to my desktop. I just finished the defense of Carentan and that is as far as I got. Can anyone help?

Try clearing the famous/infamous steel.prf file, then restart and reset your prefs. Good hunting.

When you say to clear the steel.prf file, do you mean to delete the file or to delete its contents? If the contents should be emptied, what program should I use to open it?

Just delete it from the folder, (NOT THE FOLDER), when you get back to battlefield map just reset ur preferences otherwise you'll get default set. OK ?

Ah, well, maybe I don't get it...

I deleted Steel.prf from the Save folder and I still get the same problem. Maybe there is another copy somewhere else that I should have deleted??
