Ship Class ??????'s

Do AE's(ammo ships) have any special use(do they carry only ammo supply pts.) before their late game replenishment 'bonus'?

Are the AVD and AV's the sea plane tenders (I'm having some semi-senior moments and cant remember from PacWar [:D] ) ?

Yep the AV is the Seaplane Tender and AVD is the Destroyer version of the seaplane tender.Havent a clue about the AE though...

Well 52nd it doesn't get much better than this..hot cup of joe on a lazy Sunday AM..the Open Championship on the tube (you being a Scotsman can appreciate that) and WITP on the laptop!!!

Prior to 1945 AE (ammuntion ships) will only function in the ammo replenishment role if in the same hex as a friendly base with a port value of at least 1. They must have supplies on board to perform this function.

So they do have a limited used prior to being able to be used while underway in 1945. They will allow you to rearm at rather limited or primitive anchorages. I can't imagine ever wanting to serve on an ammo ship tho. [X(]

4,606 tons of assorted ammunition aboard the SS Quinault Victory and SS E.A. Bryan, as well as 429 tons in railway cars on the pier. The bow of SS Quinault Victory crashed 500 feet out to sea, a pilot reported chunks "the size of houses" streaking past him at 9,000 feet, window panes were shattered in San Francisco 48 miles away, and the seismic shock was recorded in Nevada. All 320 men working the shift at the port, most black enlisted men, were killed.

The US Navy has a tradition of naming its AEs after volcanoes for a reason [;)]
