Hex-hopping TFs

Post by ADavidB »

I've noticed an odd little effect of surface combat - the losing TF "hops" to an adjacent hex in an analogous manner to that of defeated LCUs retreating one hex. So if you really want to do in an enemy TF, you need to have several forces surrounding it. This works really well in the straight between Malaya and Sumatra; by putting three surface combat TFs in a line I've had up to three shots at TFs that try to pass through.

But this "hex-hopping" means that it is even more dangerous to try an open-sea interception of an air combat TF, because they are guaranteed to get away after the first attack, then your surface combat TF is in real danger.
