What New Aircraft would you like to see?

I've already posted the following on the wish list (this wish list stuff is getting out of hand feel like a kid asking what I want for Christmas![:)])

I'm already working on some myself, I just about finished the N1K1 Kyofu, another float fighter, replacement/upgrade for the A6M2-N Rufe.

Additional aircraft I would like to see added to the database for what/if scenarios.

British – Common Wealth

Blackburn Skua MII – Another obsolete F/B
Handley Page Hailfax MkIII – Level Bomber
Avro Lancaster – Level Bomber
Gloster Meteor MkIII – jet
Hawker Typhoon – F/B
Stirling Short – Bomber
Supermarine Walrus –Float Plane

French/Dutch
D.520 Dewoitine - Fighter
Bloch 174 - Bomber

US
P80 – Jet

Japan
G5N Shinzan (Liz) – Bomber (4 eng Nakajima)
N1K1 Kyofu – Float Fighter (1 eng Mitsubishi)
Ki-102a – Fighter (2 eng Mitsubishi)
Q1W1 Tokai – ASW/Recon, JU88 look a like (2 eng Hitachi)

Allies - C-46. Why they aren't there already is curious to me.

Allied C-46 for sure. F8F and maybe even a P-80 if game goes to 1946.

No preference on Japanese side. They are so decimated with pilots by 1945 it really doesn't matter. Well....maybe 1,000,000 Baloon Bombs....

I'd like to sea the Royal Navy floatplane (Walrus?) so RN ships could be suitably equipped with search capabilities.

Beyond that, some of the experimental stuff would be fun. Does anyone remember the Dynamix sim Aces of the Pacific? (I bought that before I even had a PC to run it - and then bought the PC - it looked so cool! [:D]) Anyway, it had an add on containing some of the rarely/never seen aircraft each side were developing. I'd find that really fun. Especially playing as the Japanese, trying to gear production to these models.

I think the Japanese player really has to do something with their aircraft production to have a chance against the Hellcats and Corsairs later in the game and having this option would be neat.

Having said that I understand the editor is full (a/c wise) so for everything that was added, something would have to go (for a full campaign, anyway) which is a shame.

I really don't know enough about the theatre to know which are the most important models but suspect an expert would tell me that all the models in the database are important.

The Japanese could use some of those defense force F-15s long about, 1945!!

(Barring that, I will take the tabby)

Walruses on British ships, at least until they are all replaced.

Going into 1946, you need to add the Bearcat and the next generation Mustang.

Can't leave out the AD-1 Skyraider if we're going to add late 45 aircraft. [:D]

After having been the subject of much complaint early on, it was pointed out that yes, while SOME British ships at the beginning of the game would have had Walruses, the British at the time were in the process of removing all of them and they were all basically gone within a few months (they had already gotten rid of them in the Atlantic.)

They proved to be quite a pain in the ass and a hazard, not a help, in battle.

I though it was SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) to have float planes leave a ship before combat, they were a real fire hazard, but they were useful scouting and watching for subs.

even in night actions? How could they be loaded back onto the ship?

According to the notes in "Carriers at War", it was US policy to dump them overboard if they were caught by surprise. It kind of makes me wonder why they carried them in the first place. I guess crews really feared fire a lot.

F7F in Marine Corp Air Support role....

And when was the Fugkaku (Int Spelling) supposed to be built - the six engined Japanese Bomber.

Well, "leave" is one way to put it. Actually "pushed over the side in a hurry before they could catch fire" is a more accurate description. There was never any attempt to recover the dumped planes. I gather they tossed the aviation fuel over the side as well.

Does anyone here play Microsoft Century of Flight (the flight simulator)? There is an add on where you can fly an OSU off the catapult on a 1941 US BB, fly around and land in the water next to the ship. The cat shot is really fun!

so after each night action, they had to have new planes loaded?

I’ve just added F5U-1 Skimmer… just for fun…

Very interesting bird in fact, it was able to freeze in the air and take off at 24 m/h speed, just like helicopter, outstanding CAP interceptor, with such unique abilities it could have been perfect anti-Kamikaze fighter

You mean what build rate? 45, but there is no logic behind that decision… it was done only for fun
