Perhaps a first?

Post by doomonyou »

My wife is a filipino. Wanted to know what that "map game" I was playing was. Explained it to her.

It was 2/2/42 in the big war and I was down to Cebu, Mindinao and Jolo all else having fallen to the evil red boxes.

Upon explaining this she told me "You should try harder, why are you letting them ruin the philipines?" I said "I am having trouble stopping them because they have alot more stuff than I do there."

She turned, walked out and said "I'm not talking to you until you fix it."

God war really is hell.[:D]

ROFL, you just bought yourself months of play time! Too bad my wife's roots are in Eastern Europe. "Europe First," she'd probably say. "Sue for peace."

That's ok, my wife is Japanese and I am playing the Allies in Scenario 15. I had to stop yelling, 'Die you dirty Japs!" and variations on that theme after I took two shoes to the head from her perch on the couch.

She also found out what the "Bonzai" sound means when the Japanese capture a base and she finds it is an opportune time to join in the cheer when she hears that all-to-often sound over my computer. I really have to finish the back office so I can get out of the living room...

My girlfriend is Chinese and she really doesn't like when I tell her I'm playing the Japanese side and attacking the Chinese. Her hometown is on the map (although spelled wrong). I'm going to do a screen capture when I take the city and email it to her at work the next day. [:)]

In UV i downloaded a sound bite from Spookies site claiming" this is not a drill" - general quaters essentially (during start up). My Girlfriend would wander around parroting it to me. Then one day she sauntered in behind me during a particular intense naval battle (against PZB if I remember correctly) and said:

"Now this is a DRILL" - she had my cordless powered screwdriver and gave the motor a whirl - i tell you, it needed a double dosing of bleach before I could wear those undies again.

My girl is just convinced I am plain nuts. She asked what all the fuss was about and I tried to explain the whole concept and scope of WitP and her words were "So why bother to fight a war, when you already know the outcome"? When I told her that I thought I could do it better, she just rolled her eyes and said "you're nuts"! LOL Although, I have to admit that I think she got a real good inkling when we were re-organizing our storage area and I came across my Micro-Armor collection. She could not believe that I had actually spent time hand painting some 3000 "teeny-weeny pieces of lead" (her words) in full tactical camouflage! We of course stayed away from what those "teeny-weeny pieces of lead" cost me. [:D]

My wife just takes one look at the screen and asks with a blank stare, "That's a game?"

OMG! LOL!! Some days I'm ecstatic that I'm not spoken for yet! LOL! Considerably adds to my "grog'ing" experiences! [8D]

That said, I did have one instance when playing the original PACWAR when a girlfriend said to me... "You know? I can't wait for the day when you don't NEED that silly machine anymore!"

Somehow? I just liked the sound of that...

For me that day will be when they close me in my coffin! [:D] I have been married for 20 years, and my wife has learned not to question why I play the games that I do.
