2 questions

Post by Sc0rp »

just played the demo and got 2 questions so far, first of all.. is there any way to speed up the process of flying? I dont like just looking at my screen for 10 minutes without getting to do shit.. thats just boring :p

and second, is there some place I can read an explenation about the weapon config 'menu'? as it doesnt make any sence to me 'at-all'..

thanks for your help :)

PrtScn key accelerates time a bit, usefull when on the way to a distant nav point etc.
Delete key decelerates time back to normal.

note: I'm not sure if there demo version may have some differences.

The weapons config menu?

Do you mean the fighter loadouts? or the ship weapon screens?

The fighter loadout selections change the weapons mounted on the fighters hardpoints to various pre-selected roles, or you can individually change each hardpoints weapon.

The ship weapon screen lists the weapon groups present on the ship, each with an option of Manual/Auto/Defensive

In Manual mode you have to fire the given weapon yourself, in Automatic mode the weapon will auto fire on your selected target whenever it is in range, in Defensive mode the weapon will assign priority to shooting down incoming missles and torpedoes as well as shooting at any threat within range-even if it is not targeted.

... One thing I havn't found "perhaps it's in the manual, I havn't had the patience to print it out (I get paper jams about every 12 pages)" is a listing of all the different weapons and discriptions of thier uses/power/characteristics etc.

I think it's INS and DEL which are the defaults for speeding up and slowing down time, but I'm not positive. Anyway, those keys can be reassigned.

Even more useful, whenever you see AUTO flash on your HUD, it means you've reached a less-interesting point in your journey and so you can hit Shift-INS. After a short cutscene, you'll instantly move to the next "event", which is usually either a waypoint or an enemy encounter.

oh .. yeah I forgot about the jump ahead ...

I'm not sure ... PrtScn/SysRq/Insert are all one key on my board ... might be Insert, I can never figure out how to use all 3 one is normal, one is with F-lock on one is with shift ... I think ...

thanks to you both! :D Im sure that will help a lot, especially the 'auto' thing.. thanks! :)

and about the weapons, I meant the screen where u pick your weapons 'layout' for your flight, but I think I understand it now, I thought the dropdown menu was for different weapons but now I understand its just a link to different weapon groups :)

thanks for your help, this certainly does increase the gameplay value for me :)
