resource/oil movement for allies? Needed?

Post by excelsior »

Do the allies need to transport oil and resources (from burma and india) to on-map industrial centers, or does the computer do it? If you ship them to Karachi, are they then sent to off-map areas, like England? (FYI I never use the computer convoy system)[:(]

I think at the beginning of a campaign game most players ship some oil off to Australia. Everywhere else that the Allies have factories and heavy industry such as on the U.S. West Coast is pretty well connected by rail.

As to the Allies needs, there is a balance between Heavy Industry and Oil. The only place the Allies have that has HI in excess of oil (ie the only place that can use extra oil) is Australia. If you don't get excess oil there you still get a lot of HI as the allies.

As to the Japanese wants, the Japanese need all the oil they can find. So just taking the oil to a place that can't actually use it still hurts them.

This may help with your plans; it lists how much resources and oil increase/decrease on each base, considering that all resource centers, oil center, manpower centers and heavy industries are fully active.

Notice that some bases will vary a lot from these numbers as they draw from other bases through roads (like, Los Angeles pulling resources from United States). Therefore, you don't really have to worry about some bases, while others will require convoys. The oil situation is nevertheless -VERY- crappy for both sides.

Regards!
F.

PS: These numbers come from some simple formulas from the production spreadsheet on Excel from that very nice WitP fansite.
I'm running out of jokes...
