My carrier Pilots are lazy

Post by BossGnome »

I have a carrier task force off the coast of australia, comprising 2 carriers, Zuikaku and Shokaku, and one light carrier, Shoho. I see a handy target. I put all my dive bombers and torpedo bombers on "naval attack-rest" at 20% nav search (cuz I have a bunch of scout planes already looking). that would be something like 70 planes taking off...i wish! Next turn, only 6 dive bombers take off?? what the heck is up with that? why dont ALL the planes I ordered to take off do so?

Please help me, im really stumped here.

Ther eis this littel thing called Sortie points that Carriers have. This is the number of sorties a carrier can conduct before it must re-supply. If you have had this carrier force out for a while, then you may be out of Sortie points. All plane flights count as a sortie, certain missions count as either a full or partial sortie point. Each plane in a flight is takign up a sortie point. SO if you have 400 sortie pointsand you launch 25 Torpedoe planes on naval strike you will use up 25 sortie points. Your Cap however only uses a fraction of this number.

That may be the issue anyway.

Could be to prevent overkill. If they spot a single AK they are not going to send everyone after it, just enough to sink it. If they see enemy CVs they should all go.

The other problem might be fatigue/moral of the pilots. If it is too high they may not fly even against a juicy target.

. . . Or, as you said, your pilots just might be lazy.

Lazy?

This was the 1940's when everyone walked 20 miles in the snow bare foot uphill both ways to school then worked in the factory afterwards but were thankful to have a job and never complained unlike you young whippersnappers....

Or at least this is what my grandfather always said.

so how do you figure out sortie points? My carrier Shokaku says "max sorties: 561/561" does that mean it still has them all, or that it used them all. also, what is needed to restock sortie pts? fuel or supply. Finally, what do "endure" and "ops" mean on the ship database, and why does endure sometimes go red?

moreover, i looked at the CVL Shoho and it has "max sorties: 270/268"

what does this mean[&:]

270/268 = Max Sorties/Current Sorties remaining.

CV has used up 2 sorties.

You have plenty of sorties available.

My thoughts: morale (as noted above); weather; spotting (just because _you_ see them, doesn't mean your crews have enough info to launch a full attack); measured response (noted above) -- what specifically was the target? If it's only a ship or two, your crews won't launch everything.

Edit: also, fatigue could be a factor (though doubtful, since you have so many sorties left).

fatigue is below 10, or just at 15. my recon is mediocre, it only spotted 2 ships, though I'm pretty sure there were more. they were big ships (ca) . I'm thinking it might have something to do with the fact that Zuikaku and Shokaku both have theyre "endure" in the red. Why is that? What is "endure" and why did it go in the red?

Endurance is basically your fuel. You're running out. Get a replentishment TF to them, or get them to port (otherwise you'll be crawling along at 1 hex per turn -- not smart for a CV). This could have something to do with it... need to review the manual.

[8D]Never underestimate "the power" of the "replenish at sea" button. If you don't have a Replenish TF or are in Port you still need to keep an eye on your combat awareness eg:ops. In my experience keeping my TF's "rep'd at sea" makes the difference between two drunken pilots and a flight of Carrier killers[:D].
