Japanese Carriers that start with out planes.

Post by BaitBoy »

What do you guys do with the Japanese carriers that start with out planes? I have thought up three things, but I do not know which is best.

1) Load carrier capable planes and accept the opp losses.

2) Load planes, but do not fly them. Just follow the big boys and disband into their squadrons as replacements.

3) Act as a taxi service to take planes out to islands. (But couldn't this be accomplished almost as well by AKs?)

Hi, All three are good.
1. Use them on ASW patrols with low mission commitments (place a Kate Daitai on board and set it to ASW 30% op loss will be low. Keep a ASW TF or two with it to chase down subs they spot. The Kates will attack but having ASW ships in another TF is also good. This is usefull in areas of the ocean where you don't have a lot of landbased air. (Supply lines towards South Pacific)

2. If you load the group and then place it into a replenishment TF they will replace the CV loss without your having to disband groups.

3. Aircraft loaded on AK unload damaged. Aircraft unloaded from CV are ready to fly. This might be important.

They combine with my CVL's and form my baby KB. Of course only having 90 op points hurts. That is still almost 4 full strikes from a 27 a/c Kate group.

Once the slower full size CV's are built (25 knot speed) they take the CVE's place in baby KB. I then plan on using the CVE as a transport/ASW vessel. I believe there are 2 of the slow CV's just can not think of the names.
